I got new glasses! They’re big, red and trendy, much like how I like to wear my hair! Anyway this year, 2020, the year of “perfect vision”, has started unlike the well awaited prescription, that many of us expect a new year to be.
Instead, it has been a an unexpected clearing of sorts. Many things have been cleared away and it hasn’t been things that I would at first glance consider bad or in the way. On the contrary, there have been things I have grown proud of, relationships that I have found purpose and comfort in, that have been cleared away.... leaving a path of, as of now, a path of nothing. It’s not so much empty as it is clear, clean slate like.. leaving me in a state of, “now whatness”. When I ordered my glasses, I had to include my new eye sight prescription. I wasn’t seeing clearly with my old prescription and I needed new glasses to see. The funny thing is, I didn’t know I wasn’t seeing clearly with my old prescription until the doctor checked my sight and tested me with a better prescription than that of what I had. In order for a more perfect vision for ourselves, some things, relationships, careers, ideas, and dreams need to be retired, cleared, to make room for a more perfect vision, dream, career, idea or relationship.
Maybe that’s what this year of “perfect vision” is all about; Clearing a path, making a clean slate, in order to write a more fitting up to date vision, for ourselves.
I don’t know, but all I know is, that I’m up for it. I’ve had some great plans, and ideas but I’m up to release all of that, for a more perfect and fitting way for me.
My thoughts bring me to a verse in the book of Philippian's that says, “13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have [b]apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead..” Here’s to the clearing and to a perfected vision! 🥂
